Day 4

This is the fourth day of my personal NaNoWriMo. So far it is going pretty good. I have been able to stay ahead on my word count. It doesn't even feel much like I am working at keeping it up. We will have to see if I can make it through. Along with writing, I have been doing a lot of reading and research for this project. I have been enjoying it.

Old Memories

The idea for the story I have started working on was in this little red notebook. It actually took me two days to find this little red notebook. That is something that can really drive me crazy. I hate knowing that something is there, but not being able to find it. Well, after I found the notebook I read over the idea. And decided that is what I wanted. I also started taking notes in the back of the little red notebook.

But that is not all that is written in this little red notebook. I had many years ago, (and this will tell you when I first had the idea for the story) written little memories down about the kids. I wrote about my Grandpa. I wrote about all sorts of things that I had been thinking. The first thing that is dated is a memory about my Grandpa. It was May 20, 2000. This would have been just a few days after he had died. But this was not the first thing that I wrote in the notebook. It is written somewhere in the middle. The first thing I wrote was the Alys story idea.

There are several sections in the book. One section for the story, one section for things about Zeb, one section for Ella, one section for Melinda, one section for Grandpa and other old memories. There is a section that is just memories about more than one of the kids. There is even a section about Jonathan; these are stories about his childhood that I was told.

An interesting thing about this book is that yesterday while just sitting here with the kids, I opened up the notebook and read something about baby Zeb. The kids were so interested that I read several more things about Zeb before I moved on to Ella and then to Melinda. We spent a good deal of time reading and talking about when they were little. It made me really happy that I had written all of that down in my little red notebook. It gives me a good reason to write in my notebook or on my blog about the kids, even if I am ever the only one who reads it. :D

New book?

I have been really having the desire to write something again. So after a few days worth of research, and a lot of considering, I am ready to give it a go. I am going to be doing a mini-NaNoWriMo. I don't know if it is really that mini. The mini part comes in that I am going to be doing it by myself. My goal is to over the next 32 days try to write another 50,000 word novel. So here we go again. This time a chose a different idea that I had quite a few years ago. I am joining it together with yet another story idea that I had. We will see how it goes. I don't want to plan to much of it out. I want it to come alive like Bella did. So that is all I know except for just a few little thoughts of what could happen. We will see if they make it into the story at all. Here is the first days' worth of words. Not quite the 1560 words that I need for day one. But a start none the less. And I am getting set up for tomorrow. So maybe I will get even more. It would be truly amazing to actually be ahead of schedule this time.

Here is the start of my story so far. This is the last anyone will be able to read of the story at least until I finish it on April 10th.

Bella

I have been working at getting Bella ready to send of for my free proof copy. I have moved things around. I have done some editing. I have also had the kids draw me some pictures to put at the beginning of each chapter. Well, they are not quite finished. They need to make three more pictures for me. Once they get all of the pictures finished and I add them to my file, I will read over everything one last time and make sure things look right. Then I will send it off. Well, I guess I still need to come up with a title. If I don't come up with anything better, I will just call the book, Bella.
